This training course is a hands-on training course with practical assessment on Recovery Position, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and live casualties with injuries. The course is legally compliant with current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. On successful completion of the course you will receive an HABC First Aider certificate valid for three years. Annual skills refresher is strongly recommended.
First Aid at Work training will equip you with the essential life saving skills and techniques required as a First Aider, suitable in any profession; at work, at home or away, at any time you will be prepared to save lives. The training provides best practice in communicating, use of your skills in controlling an incident/accident where people are injured, until the arrival of emergency services.
It is ideal for staff across all sectors who want to learn how to obtain the best possible skills to be a competent First Aider.
The 3 Day First Aid at Work course is HSE compliant. It provides an introduction to First Aid and prepares candidates to deal with emergencies until paramedic staff arrive.
Topics include :
Primary/Secondary Survey, CPR, Recovery Position, Choking, Bleeding, Shock, Minor Injuries, Contents of First Aid Kits and completion of Accident/Incident Reports.
In addition to the topics noted above the 3 day course also covers Heart Attack, Stroke, Seizures, Asthma, Broken Bones, Soft Tissue Injury, Burns, Poisoning and Heat related illness
The course can also be tailored to the specific needs of the candidates involved.
The trainer will monitor and asses each individual during the course to ensure skills are applied properly and the information given is being learnt. On satisfactory completion candidates will receive a level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, valid for 3 Years.
This 1 Day training course will equip you with the essential techniques for effective First Aid. It’s ideal for all staff across all sectors who want to learn how to obtain best possible results from their skills in order to be a competent first aider.
Professional instructors bring the First Aid training content to life to develop learners’ skill in a relaxed, hands-on way in a safe environment.
This course is a blend of theory and practical learning, allowing you to develop your skills back at work. As part of the course you will also receive a First Aid Booklet, quick reference notes, a Certificate of Attendance and access to the SSTAR website blog page.
It is worth noting that, as of 1 January 2017 the assessment of CPR must include use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). For this assessment candidates need to place the AED pads correctly during the CPR event and follow the AED instructions.
As well as one manikin for each four candidates, an AED training device will be also be provided for each four candidates to allow for this additional assessment as part of the course.
