Rigorous enforcement of food hygiene legislation is important but it is not, in itself, sufficient to prevent food poisoning. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health has designed its level 1 course to give first tier workers an appreciation of the fundamentals of good food hygiene practice.
Food Hygiene Level 2 training
The Level 2 Award programme includes Food Safety benefits and costs, the role and power of Enforcement Officers, introduction to food safety hazards, multiplication of bacteria, temperature checks, chilled storage temperatures and record keeping, structured to the CIEH Level 2 Award exam Food Safety in Catering.
Food Hygiene Level 3 training
This course is for Supervisors/Managers - and includes sections on Legislation, applying and monitoring food hygiene in practice, temperature control, workplace and equipment design, waste disposal and disinfection pest control, personal hygiene of staff, staff training, implementation of food safety procedures,food safety auditing, structured to the CIEH Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety.
Food Hygiene Update/Refresher training
An update training course is suggested every three years, to cover any new legislation, procedures and to further the need for good Food Hygiene methods. Programme structured to the CIEH exam.
Nutrition & Food Presentation training
This half day training course looks at nutritional food value, food presentation, use of fresh food with suggested menus, and also includes a workshop on helping and encouraging the elderly to eat well with a balanced diet in order to maintain good health.
