 Care Staff Training

  • Care Assistant Induction Training

    The course is designed for students who are new to the caring profession, providing a good sound basic grounding in Caring. The course also provides underpinning knowledge for the NVQ Level II Care qualification.

  • Dementia Training for Care Staff

    Course designed for staff of all grades and aims to provide the participants with a basic knowledge about the process of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of Dementia.

    To identify particular behaviours which participants find difficult to manage or understand when caring for people with Dementia. Underlines important communication guildelines and introduce different strategies which can be used.

  • Patient Manual Handing training

    The Patient Manual Handling training programme is structured to comply with Manual Handling Regulations, which requires all staff involved in the handling and moving of patients/clients to be trained in accordance with the current best practice. The course is mainly practical, hands-on and tailored for those attending.

  • Medicines Training for Care Staff

    Medicines Training for Care Staff - introduces course members to medicines law and their responsibilities with regard to the administration of medicines. Topics covered; administratation and record keeping according to local policy, storage of medicines, side effects of major drug groups used within the course members workplace and information sources.

  • Infection Control training

    Infection Control training aims to develop the course members awareness of the importance of Infection Control in their work environment, and to improve awareness of the types of micro-organisms, their transmission and recognised methods of controlling the spread of infection from client to client or carer to client.

  • Care Planning training

    The aim of the nursing/caring process is to provide a plan of care that will help a patient/client reach and maintain their optimum level of health. Care Planning consists of four steps: 1. Assessing 2. Planning 3. Implementing 4. Evaluating. The course enables those attending to contribute to the development, provision and review of care plans for service users.

  • Risk Assessment in the Workplace training

    Risk Assessment training is designed for care staff supervisors/managers, and provides a grounding in the legal and professional responsibilities of Health & Safety Legislation. The course examines practical ways of assessing risk and includes time for problem solving.

  • Care Staff Supervisory Skills training

    Care Staff Supervisory Skills training is for new and potential supervisors who are encouraged to explore the functions of staff supervision and indentify some core skills needed to be an effective supervisor.

  • POVA - Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse training

    This course aims to raise awareness of the different forms of abuse, instruct care staff on what to do if wiitnessing abuse or if abuse is disclosed to them. Examines subtle forms of abuse or neglect, and encourages individuals to examine their own practice and that of colleagues.

  • Child Protection - Safeguarding of Children training

    Training in Child Protection examines protection procedures and the law. Definitions, what to look out for in physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, sexual abuse. Why it occurs. What to do in the event of child abuse and outcome for children.

  • Dealing with Challenging Behaviour training

    Dealing with Challenging Behaviour/Conflict Resolution - Looks at behaviours and situations found to be most challenging. What important factors might contribute to the behaviour or situation. How to de-esculate problems.

  • Report Writing & Communication training

    Report Writing & Communication for care staff whose role entails the writing of reports on service users. Looks at legal aspects, style of report writing, importance of issues such as clarity, accuracy and brevity in reports.

  • Swimming Pool Lifeguard and Special programmes structured for staff working with disabled using the swimming pool.    Contact the office for more information.
  • Nutrition and Food Presentation
  • Nutrition and Food Presentation for the elderly, a half day course which looks at factors affecting malnutrition and dietary assessment.  Suggested menus, fresh food, choice.  Helping the elderly to eat / being fed.
